Accredited BTEC First Awards specifications now available to download.  So that’s 2 compulsory units and 2 optional units.  I’m still not entirely sure what that means for colleges.  I’m assuming that as we run the BTEC First Diploma we don’t have to change yet because the new spec for this is not accredited and we will change to the new spec in 2013.  Any views?

This looks interesting – saw it in The Observer yesterday.  Has anyone used it?  Is there anything similar in the North West?

Santa is busy organising the Boxing day inter elf football match.  He’s brought in some top Spanish elves and  thinks his team ‘elfski’ will win hands down.

The time has come for the elves to make the christmas cake.  They are using Santa’s favourite recipe.  It always turns out well.  It’s  ’Baking Made Easy’  The head elf wants to know if Santa wants party food too.  Just a quiche, Lorraine, he replies.

It all got a bit fiery in Santa’s grotto last Christmas eve.  The elves hid the pallets to store the presents on.  Never mind, by Boxing Day Santa thought it was hilarious.  Oh those devious elves!

Santa’s sleigh is overloaded.  He is wondering how he will make it pay this year what with the price of fuel rising and air taxes.  Maybe he’ll have to charge for extras – wrapping paper, bows and labels.  A budget sleighline will do much better in the recession he thinks.

Oh dear Santa’s plans keep going wrong.  He’s feeling all deflated now.  The elves are showing some interest though and have made him a nice cup of tea to QuEnch his thirst!  Maybe this will get him out of the slump and he’ll recover by tomorrow!
